Madrid, Spain — Helpful Village, the leading technology platform supporting the Village Movement, has won the 2025 Fundación MAPFRE Social Innovation Award, selected from more than 350 international proposals worldwide. The award was presented in Madrid by Andrés Allamand, Secretary-General of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, and highlights Helpful Village’s mission to empower older adults to Age-in-Place with purpose, autonomy, and social connection through community-centered technology.

“This award is not just for Helpful Village—it belongs to all Village leaders nationwide,” said Helpful Village CEO Manuel Acevedo, who accepted the honor in Madrid. “The dedication and vision of Village leaders make this movement possible.”

Already adopted by a majority of Villages across the United States, Helpful Village’s intuitive platform has become the go-to solution for modernizing Village operations. This international recognition is expected to further accelerate the consolidation and growth of the Village Movement nationwide, at a time when demand for aging-in-place solutions is greater than ever.

Award Winning Moment

The award also underscores the importance of bringing the Village Movement into the public spotlight. As global populations age, Villages represent an innovative, community-driven solution to support independence, social connection, and healthy aging. Raising awareness of this work is vital to ensure policymakers, families, and communities recognize Villages as a cornerstone of the future of aging.

Helpful Village also Thanks all Village leaders who contributed to shaping its presentation during a strategic webinar held on April 30, 2025. That collaborative effort was a turning point that helped secure this historic recognition.
